Leinster XC Uneven ages in Ferbane
Ferbane A.C. hosted a fantastic Leinster Cross Country for Uneven Ages and Senior. Weather conditions were tough with gusty winds testing the athletes and spectators. The under foot conditions were pretty good despite heavy rain falling in the days leading up to the event. This is what you could call a real cross country course with all types of testing terrain containing up and downhills to challenge the athletes.
Highlights today included Niall Sheehan’s steady run which gave him 7th place in the Senior Men’s race. Sarah Kehoe’s amazing run in the U15 Girls which won her silver medal, Billy Coogan finishing 7th in the U15 boys while the marquee covering the food blew over! And the boys U11 with Robert Coogan, Conor Carroll, Tomas Carroll and Evan Ryan, were the 4th Club Team despite having a few falls and mishaps on the course. The fab four also were part of the county team which came 3rd.
Special mention to Kate Hayden (U11), Robert Coogan (U11), Hazel Coogan(U13), Sam Brennan(U13), Sarah Kehoe(U15), Billy Coogan(U15), Pia O’Grady(U17) and Cillian Dunne(U17) who were all the first athletes home for Gowran AC in their age Category.
Well done to all the athletes today, it was not easy, but they all put in tremendous work on the course.
