Leinster Junior Senior & Master Championships 2021

3rd – 4th July 2021

The Leinster Junior, Senior and Master Athletics championships were held in the magnificent new IT Carlow South Sports Campus over this weekend. Gowran AC athletes took home a haul of 7 medals. Peter Dunne’s excellent technique saw him equal his personal best of 4 Metres for 3rd in the Junior men’s Pole Vault. Mary Fitzgerald by coming 3rd in the senior ladies shot putt made it a Kilkenny 1,2,3. In the 100M, Shane Webb ran 11.57 seconds in the senior heats, while in the Masters O40 Tom Corrigan ran 12.33 seconds for 1st, and is surely on his way to sub 12 seconds. John Leamy ran 12.66 for 2nd in the men’s O45. The ever improving John Coady ran strongly for 3rd in the men’s O35 1500M. The Gowran performance of the weekend was the Masters 200M O40 where Tom Corrigan powered through the second half of the bend to blitz the field and powered home for a race win.
