News – 16th March

Club athletes had a successful two days at the recent Leinster juvenile Indoor Track & Field Championships in Athlone winning 3 gold 2 silver and 2 bronze medals.David Murphy led the way in winning double gold in the bu16 age group he won the 60m and 200m in which he set a new championship record of 23.23s and he also won a bronze medal in the shot putt. 

Charlie Mullins had a great personal best jump of 4m 23cm to win gold in the bu12 long jump and finished 4th in the 60m hurdles final having won his heat. Aoife Naddy showed a return to form after a recent illness to win a silver medal in the gu18 high jump with a leap of 1m50cm, Peter Dunne won silver in the bu14 high jump with a personal best jump of 1m40cm and in the gu13 60m hurdles Sarah O’Donnell won the bronze medal with a time of 10.22s having won her heat, others who turned in excellent performances were Anna Connolly who finished 4th in gu12 High Jump being beaten on countback, James O’Neill finished 4th in bu17 shot, Robert Kelly 5th in bu12 shot,others who gained great experience for the future were Eve O’Dwyer, Robyn Denieffe, Roisin Jelley,  Ellen Purcell Cillian Dunne , James Kealy, Brogan McAviney, Zack Denieffe, Eddie Gittens ,David O’Carroll, Eoin O’Dwer and Martin Mulhall, 

Training continues in Paulstown Community Centre on Monday and Friday at 6pmand in Scanlon Park Kilkenny on Wednesday from 7 o 8 pm all are welcome.
