Great Ireland National 10K Run 2018
15 Apr 2018

A wet, windy day for the National 10k in the Phoenix Park. Over 10,000 runners, both novice and elite, shared the Phoenix Park route during the 10k event, with all participants receiving a medal, t-shirt, and goody bag.
The race was won by England’s Oliver Lockley, who crossed the finish line with an impressive time of 00:30:18.He was closely followed by KCH’s Brian Maher, who finished just seconds later with a time of 00:30:20. 3rd, Mick Clohissey 00:30:22 of Raheny Shamrocks Athletics Club.
Meanwhile, in the women’s 10k, Shona Heaslip of An Riocht Athletics Club took first place with a time of 00:34:52. 2nd, Kerry O’Flaherty 00:35:00 and 3rd, Gemma Steel 00:35:08.
Our Gowran athletes ran brilliant despite the bad weather. With the wind at their backs coming up the hills, they came home with great times. Sunday morning training on the gentle hills of Gowran and Dungarvan proved worthwhile. A special well done to Deirdre and Paula on their first ever 10k.
